Applied for Conscientious Objector, nonmilitary. Was somehow granted I-O classification at Santa Ana, Ca draft board in Orange County, even though this draft board was the toughest board in the country, run by far-right Republicans who turned down CO requests over and over! My high school friend who enlisted after graduating at Santa Ana High was killed only six months after high school.
